“Secondary schools in Vancouver led by Youth Ambassadors delivered collected books, toys, board games and sporting equipment to the ISSofBC Youth Hub as they celebrated the success of Literacy In Action: Book Drive for Refugee and Immigrant Youth this evening at ISSofBC Welcome Centre.
The festivities included speeches, dance performances, awards and even a visit from Santa and his elves!
The book drive provided an opportunity for selected secondary school Youth Leaders to learn more about the aspects of project planning, implementation as well as taking a leadership role to promote the donation project within their schools.
Youth collected over 1,200 items in total in their communities over approximately two months.
In addition, the Global Chinese Language Culture and Education Exchange Foundation (CLCE) generously donated $3,280 through their participation.
ISSofBC is thrilled to be a part of this project and would like to thank all participants and donors for providing much needed materials to our immigrant and refugee clients in our youth hub. ”
